hmm for some reason our CO decided that our whole battalion shld run the 21 km half marathon.
As far as i know most first year soldiers in combat units, won’t even go near the 21 km marathon. And we are a service unit.
So every friday i run an avg of 10 km and above at east coast park with my size XL shirt and size XL pants zhao geng-ing everywhere. Its actually kinda fun u noe. and since we are gonna run 21 km i was thinking of joining the 21 km competitive run. for 12 bucks they give you a finishers medal and a cert with your printed time. Now i noe i’m not gonna even go anywhere near the top runners (last year someone won the open category in an hour. make your own calculations) but i feel ok about meeting my battalions competitive run standard, which is 2 1/2 hours. Plus i get to tuang if i go for intensive AHM training (right now i’m only doing my battalions minimum standard of training). Any other takers? My best timing is about 1 hour 2 1/2 minutes for 11km, but i have been shaving off 2 mins every week from my timing.
My 2.4 has improved as a result also. its now 10 mins 25 secs, down from 11 mins 20 from bmt. 40 more secs to go….
Now i noe why my battalion is so f**ked up. As a general rule 60 percent of our time is supposed to be spent on real work while 40 percent on extra activities like pt, talks and saikang(for other companies) and all, but in reality our time table is on the reverse. We do our maintenace work very fast but we spent so much time on saf events that we just end up overworking ourselves.
